ইরাকে মোতায়েন মার্কিন সেনা প্রত্যাহারের বিষয়ে ঐকমত্যে পৌঁছেছে বাগদাদ এবং ওয়াশিংটন। এ বিষয়ে গতকাল (বুধবার) দু দেশ একটি যৌথ বিবৃতি দিয়েছে।
বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়েছে, ইরাক থেকে যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রের সমস্ত মার্কিন সেনা প্রত্যাহার করা হবে। মার্কিন সরকার মনে করছে, ইরাকি সেনাদের যুদ্ধ করার সক্ষমতা তৈরি হয়েছে।
ফরাসি বার্তা সংস্থা এএফপি জানিয়েছে, প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেন সরকারের আমলে ইরাক ও আমেরিকার প্রথম কৌশলগত আলোচনার পর সেনা প্রত্যাহারের বিষয়ে সমঝোতা হয়।
বিবৃতিতে আরো বলা হয়েছে, ইরাকে শুধুমাত্র প্রশিক্ষণ দেয়ার জন্য কিছু সেনা থাকবে।
সাবেক প্রেসিডেন্ট বারাক ওবামার সময়ে ইরাক থেকে যুদ্ধক্ষেত্রের সমস্ত সেনা প্রত্যাহার করা হয়েছিল কিন্তু ২০১৪ সালে ইরাকে উগ্র সন্ত্রাসী গোষ্ঠী দায়েশের বিরুদ্ধে লড়াইয়ের নামে আবার সেসব সেনা ফিরিয়ে আনা হয়।
এদিকে, আইআরজিসি’র কুদস ফোর্সের প্রধান লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল কাসেম সোলাইমানিকে মার্কিন বাহিনী ইরাকের মাটিতে সন্ত্রাসী কায়দায় হত্যা করার পর থেকে ইরাকের বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক দল ও সংগঠনের পক্ষ থেকে মার্কিন সেনা প্রত্যাহারের জন্য চাপ বাড়তে থাকে।
