জামালপুরে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় যমুনা নদীর পানি বাহাদুরাবাদ ঘাট পয়েন্টে ৪ সেন্টিমিটার হ্রাস পেয়ে বিপৎসীমার ৫৯ সেন্টিমিটার ওপর দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে। এতে বন্যা পরিস্থিতি অপরিবর্তিত রয়েছে। এর ফলে পানিবন্দী হয়ে পড়েছে ৬০ হাজার মানুষ।
জেলায় বন্যা কবলিত উপজেলাগুলো হচ্ছে, ইসলামপুর, দেওয়ানগঞ্জ, মেলান্দহ, সরিষাবাড়ী, বকশীগঞ্জ ও মাদারগঞ্জ।
বন্যা পরিস্থিতি নিয়ে জেলার ত্রাণ ও পুনর্বাসন কর্মকর্তা মো.নায়েব আলী জানান, বন্যায় জেলার ৬টি উপজেলার ৯০ টি গ্রামের ৬০ হাজার মানুষ পানিবন্দী অবস্থায় রয়েছেন। বন্যার কারণে এ পর্যন্ত ৬৫টি পরিবার নদী ভাঙনের শিকার হয়েছেন। বন্যার্তদের মাঝে ৮২ মেট্রিক টন চাল ও ৬২ লাখ টাকা নগদ অর্থ বরাদ্দ দেয়া হয়েছে।
অন্যদিকে, জেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের অতিরিক্ত উপ-পরিচালক মো.সাখাওয়াৎ ইকরাম জানান, বন্যার পানিতে জেলার ৩ হাজার ৬’শ ২৩ হেক্টর জমির ফসল তলিয়ে গেছে। এরই মধ্যে রোপা আমন ধান ৩হাজার ৫’শ ৩০ হেক্টর, রোপা আমন বীজতলা ৪৫ হেক্টর এবং শাক সবজি ৪৮ হেক্টর।
