শেরপুরে আধিপত্য নিয়ে দুই কাউন্সিলর প্রার্থীর সমর্থকদের সংঘর্ষের সংবাদ সংগ্রহকালে দুর্বৃত্তের হামলায় ডিবিসি নিউজের শেরপুর প্রতিনিধি ও শেরপুর ইয়্যুথ রিপোর্টার্স ক্লাবের অর্থ বিষয়ক সম্পাদক এস এম জুবায়ের দীপ গুরুতর আহত হয়েছেন।
আজ রাতে শেরপুর পৌরশহরের পূর্ব শেরী এলাকায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে।
এ ঘটনায় ক্ষুব্ধ সাংবাদিকদের অভিযোগের প্রেক্ষিতে তিনজনকে আটক করেছে পুলিশ।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, রাতে চতুর্থ ধাপের পৌর নির্বাচনে ৪নং ওয়ার্ডের বিজয়ী কাউন্সিলর নাহিদ হাসান ও স্থানীয় আওয়ামী লীগ নেতা আবুল কালাম আজাদের সমর্থকদের সংঘর্ষ হয়।
সংঘর্ষের সংবাদ সংগ্রহে গেলে ডিবিসির প্রতিনিধি এসএম জুবায়েরের উপর হামলা করে কেন্দ্রীয় ছাত্রলীগ নেতা মুরশীদুর রহমান আকন্দের অনুসারীরা। এ সময় তার মোবাইল, ক্যামেরা ও ট্রাইপড ছিনিয়ে নেয় দুর্বৃত্তরা। পরে তাকে উদ্ধার করে শেরপুর জেলা হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করেন কর্মরত অন্য সাংবাদিকরা।
