চলতি জুলাইয়ের শেষে ৫ থেকে ১১ বছরের শিশুদের করোনাভাইরাসের টিকা প্রয়োগ শুরু হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক ডা. খুরশিদ আলম।
মঙ্গলবার (১৯ জুলাই) সকাল সোয়া ১০টায় ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালের বুস্টার ডোজ কার্যক্রম পরিদর্শন শেষে এ কথা বলেন তিনি।
এর আগে সোমবার (১৮ জুলাই) বিকেলে স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তরের সম্মেলন কক্ষে চলমান ভ্যাকসিন কার্যক্রমসহ অন্যান্য সমসাময়িক বিষয় নিয়ে আয়োজিত এক প্রেস ব্রিফিংয়ে স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জাহিদ মালেক বলেন, আগামী মাসে (আগস্ট) পাঁচ বছর থেকে এগারো বছরের শিশুদের করোনার টিকা কার্যক্রম শুরু হবে।
মন্ত্রী বলেন, শিশুদের টিকা কার্যক্রমে কিছুটা দেরি হওয়ার কারণ হলো আমরা এখনও নিবন্ধন তালিকা পাইনি।
এছাড়া আমাদের টিকা পেতেও একটু সময় লেগেছে। কিছু টিকা আমরা এরইমধ্যে পেয়েছি। এর বাইরে আরও তিন কোটি টিকা আমরা বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা থেকে পাওয়ার কথা রয়েছে।
