কক্সবাজারের মহেশখালী দ্বীপে নির্বাচনী সংঘর্ষে গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে একজন নিহত হয়েছেন। গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়েছেন আহত হয়েছেন ৭ জন।
আজ সোমবার সকালে দ্বীপের কুতুবজোম ইউনিয়নেের নোয়াপাড়া মাদ্রাসা কেন্দ্রে দুপক্ষের বন্দুকযুদ্ধে এ ঘটনা ঘটে বলে জানিয়েছেন মহেশখালী থানার ওসি আব্দুল হাই।
পুলিশ ও এলাকাবাসী জানিয়েছে, আজ সকাল ৯টার দিকে আওয়ামী লীগের নৌকা প্রতীকের চেয়ারম্যান প্রার্থী শেখ কামাল ও বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থী মোশাররফ হোসেন খোকনের সমর্থকরা কেন্দ্র দখলে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করে। এ ঘটনা নিয়ে দুই প্রার্থীর সমর্থকরা বন্দুকযুদ্ধে লিপ্ত হয়।
উভয়পক্ষে ব্যাপক গুলি বিনিময়ের ঘটনায় হতাহতের ঘটনা ঘটে।
পরে ঘটনাস্থলে আবুল কালাম (৪০) নামের একজন নিহত হন।
গুলিবিদ্ধ অবস্থায় আহত আরও ৭ জনকে কক্সবাজার জেলা সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে বলে নিশ্চিত করেন মহেশখালী থানার ওসি আব্দুল হাই।
তিনি বলেন, পরিস্থিতি এখন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আছে।
