অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেলের দায়িত্ব নিয়েছেন সুপ্রিমকোর্ট আইনজীবী সমিতির সভাপতি এএম আমিন উদ্দিন। রোববার সকালে তিনি এ দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন।
সকালে আপিল বিভাগের ভার্চুয়াল আদালতে মামলা পরিচালনায় অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল হিসেবে শুনানিতে অংশ নেন আমিন উদ্দিন।
দায়িত্ব নেয়ার পর আমিন উদ্দিন আজ অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেলের চেয়ারেও বসেন।
অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেলের কার্যালয়ে রাষ্ট্রের আইন কর্মকর্তাসহ বিভিন্ন আইনজীবী আমিন উদ্দিনকে ফুল দিয়ে শুভেচ্ছা ও অভিনন্দন জানান।
সুপ্রিমকোর্টের জ্যেষ্ঠ আইনজীবী ও টানা দুই মেয়াদে সমিতির প্রেসিডেন্ট আমিন উদ্দিনকে বৃহস্পতিবার অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল হিসেবে নিয়োগ দেয় সরকার।
বৃহস্পতিবার আইন মন্ত্রণালয়ের এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়, রাষ্ট্রপতি মো. আবদুল হামিদ অ্যাটর্নি জেনারেল হিসেবে আমিন উদ্দিনকে নিয়োগ দেন।
গত ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর মাহবুবে আলমের মৃত্যুতে রাষ্ট্রের সর্বোচ্চ আইন কর্মকর্তার পদটি শূন্য হয়। তার স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন আমিন উদ্দিন।
