ভোলায় বন্দুকযুদ্ধে জলদস্যু নিহত
ভোলায় ভেদুরিয়া ফেরিঘাট এলাকার বালুর মাঠে পুলিশের সাথে বন্দুকযুদ্ধে শফিকুল ইসলাম শফি (৪০) নামে এক জলদস্যু নিহত হয়েছে। এ সময় তার কাছ থেকে সুটার গান ও গুলিসহ দেশীয় অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হয়।
মঙ্গলবার ভোর রাতে ঘটনাটি ঘটে। পরে লাশ উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ ভোলা হাসপাতালের নিয়ে যায়। নিহত শফির বিরুদ্ধে মাদক ডাকাতিসহ একাধিক মামলা রয়েছে।
ভোলা পুলিশ সুপার সরকার মোহাম্মদ কায়সার জানান, ভোর রাতে ইলিশা হাওলাদার মার্কেটের কাছে টহল পুলিশ গোলাগুলির শব্দ পায়। তখন কন্ট্রোল রুমকে জানালে পুলিশের একটি দল ঘটনাস্থলে যায়। পুলিশের উপস্থিতি টের পেয়ে কয়েকজন পালানোর চেষ্টা করে এবং পুলিশকে লক্ষ্য করে গুলি ছোড়ে।
এ সময় পুলিশও পাল্টা গুলি চালায়। এক পর্যায়ে তারা পালিয়ে গেলে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থল থেকে একটি লাশ উদ্ধার করে। পরে ওই লাশ ভোলা সদর হাসপাতালের মর্গে নেয়া হয়। সেখানে পরিবারের সদস্যরা শফিকুল ইসলাম শফির লাশ শনাক্ত করে।
