বিশ্বের দরিদ্র দেশগুলো পর্যাপ্ত টিকা না পাওয়ায় করোনা মহামারি ২০২২ সাল পর্যন্ত থাকতে পারে।
গতকাল বুধবার বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার জ্যেষ্ঠ উপদেষ্টা ব্রুস অলওয়ার্ডের বরাতে এ তথ্য দিয়েছে বিবিসি।
ডব্লিউএইচও জানায়, আফ্রিকা মহাদেশে ৫ শতাংশেরও কম জনসংখ্যা টিকার আওতায় এসেছে, যা অন্য মহাদেশগুলোতে ৪০ শতাংশ। এ ক্ষেত্রে বিশ্বের ধনী দেশগুলোকে সহায়তার জন্য এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানিয়েছে সংস্থাটি।
এদিকে, ২৪ ঘণ্টায় বিশ্বে পূর্ববর্তী দিনের চেয়ে করোনায় সংক্রমণ ও মৃত্যু বেড়েছে। একদিনে ৭ হাজার ৪৭১ জনের প্রাণহানি হয়েছে। এছাড়া ৪ লাখ ৫০ হাজারের বেশি আক্রান্ত হয়েছে বিশ্বজুড়ে। এ নিয়ে বিশ্বে মোট আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা ২৪ কোটি ২৭ লাখ ছাড়ালো। আর ৪৯ লাখ ৩৬ হাজার ছাড়ালো মোট মৃত্যু। এখন পর্যন্ত ভাইরাসটি থেকে সুস্থ হয়েছে ২২ কোটি ৪৭ হাজারের বেশি মানুষ।
