সুনামগঞ্জের তাহিরপুর উপজেলা সদরের ভাটি তাহিরপুরে মামির সঙ্গে ভাগ্নের গোপন সম্পর্ক আছে এমন মিথ্যা অপবাদ সইতে না পেরে এক যুবক আত্মহত্যা করেছেন। শনিবার (১৩ মার্চ) বিকেলে ভাটি তাহিরপুর গ্রামে এ ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহত যুবকের নাম সাদিকুর রহমান আনান (২২) ওই গ্রামের আব্দুল আহাদের ছেলে।
নিহতের স্বজন ও স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা যায়, সাদিকুর রহমান আনান তার মামাতো দুই ভাইকে প্রাইভেট পড়াতেন। প্রাইভেট পড়ানোকে কেন্দ্র করে সাদিকুর রহমানের মামা শাহনশাহ তার স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে সাদিকুরের গোপন সম্পর্ক রয়েছে বলে অপবাদ দেন। এমন অপবাদ সইতে না পেরে শনিবার বিকেলে সাদিকুর রহমান নিজ ঘরে রশিতে ঝুলে আত্মহত্যা করেন।
পরে স্বজনরা সাদিকুরকে ঝুলতে দেখে তাহিরপুর উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে গেলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।
তাহিরপুর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. আবদুল লতিফ তরফদার ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে জানান, নিহতের লাশ ময়নাতদন্ত শেষে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা হবে।
