চট্টগ্রামের একটি বেসরকারি ডিপোতে রাখা কন্টেইনারে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। সোমবার (১৩ জুন) রাত পৌনে নয়টার দিকে পতেঙ্গা ভারটেক্স কন্টেইনার ডিপোতে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
খবর পেয়ে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের একটি ইউনিট ঘটনাস্থলে যাওয়ার আগেই আগুন নিভে যায় বলে জানিয়েছেন আগ্রাবাদ ফায়ার স্টেশনের মোবিলাইজেশন অফিসার কফিল উদ্দিন আহমেদ।
তিনি জানান, রাত ৮টা ৪০ মিনিটে আগুন লাগার খবর পেয়ে কাটগড়ের ভারটেক্স ডিপোতে যাই।
ওখানে একটি তুলার কনটেইইনারে ধোঁয়া দেখা গিয়েছিল। আমরা গিয়ে কনটেইনারটি সরানোর জন্য বলি।
ডিপোর লোকজনই কনটেইনারটি সরিয়ে তা নিভিয়ে ফেলেন। এতে কোনো পানি দিতে হয়নি। পানি দিলে তুলা নষ্ট হয়ে যায়। তাই পানি ছেটানো হয়নি।
গত ৪ জুন রাতে সীতাকুণ্ডে বিএম কনটেইনার ডিপোতে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটে। আগুন নেভানোর এক পর্যায়ে রাসায়নিকের কনটেইনারে বিস্ফোরণ ঘটে ব্যাপক ধ্বংসযজ্ঞ হয়।
এই বিস্ফোরণে এখন পর্যন্ত ৪৯ জনের লাশ উদ্ধার হয়েছে। আহত হন দুই শতাধিক মানুষ। তাদের বেশ কয়েকজনের অবস্থা এখনো আশঙ্কাজনক।
